This annual ethics program will provide you with a round-table discussion of practical ethical issues important to your practice. The program will discuss a range of recent cases and disciplinary actions concerning lawyer use of technology in law practice. The program will also cover developments in conflicts of interests and lawyer conflicts with clients. The panel will discuss developments related to confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege.

This annual ethics program will provide you with a round-table discussion of practical ethical issues important to your practice. The program will discuss a range of recent cases and disciplinary actions concerning lawyer use of technology in law practice.  The program will also cover developments in conflicts of interests and lawyer conflicts with clients.  The panel will discuss developments related to confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege.  They will also cover how the unauthorized practice of law is changing as technology evolves and non-lawyer professionals seek to provide advice around the edges of what has traditionally been understood as legal advice.  The evolving standards of multi-jurisdictional practice and the permissibility of giving advice across state lines will also be examined.  This program will provide you with a wide-ranging discussion of practical ethics developments important to your practice.

Day 2 – February 3, 2016:

  • Dealing with dishonest clients – duties to client, the court and system, and withdrawing from a representing
  • Client confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege
  • Developments in conflicts of interest and conflicts with clients, part 2
