Richard E. Moberly, Interim Dean, Richard and Catherine Schmoker Professor of Law
University of Nebraska College of Law

The “Whistleblowing and Ethics" CLE will examine the legal and ethical implications of whistleblowing.  Whistleblowing has become an essential tool for both law enforcement and internal corporate compliance.  Dozens of federal and state laws use a variety of methods to encourage insiders, such as employees, to disclose corporate misconduct to someone who can correct it.  However, given the wide variety of laws and incentives, the area has become a legal and ethical minefield, with numerous traps for the unwary. Professor Moberly's presentation will focus on whistleblower laws and issues arising when attorneys have to deal with whistleblowers and when attorneys might become whistleblowers themselves.
