Member Information : Sections : Public Interest
Law Section
This section is
comprised of lawyers who practice or have an interest in using public
interest law to create a more just society. The section provides
a common forum for exchanging ideas among public interest practitioners.
Among other activities, members of the section study proposals and
make recommendations in an effort to facilitate the delivery of
legal services to clients in Nebraska in various areas, including
but not limited to the areas of poverty law, disability rights,
civil liberties and civil rights, sexual and domestic violence victims'
advocacy, prisoners' rights, and the rights of immigrants. The section
also focuses its attention on other communities who are indigent,
powerless or whose legal needs are unserved or underserved. The
section seeks to be a resource for lawyers whose practice serves
the public interest, whether they are employed within an advocacy
organization or are providing pro bono services to clients.
