13th Annual Barristers' Ball - March 18, 2017 Embassy Suites - La Vista
The proceeds of The Barristers' Ball (including dinner, dancing and silent and live auctions) will benefit the NSBA Volunteer Lawyers Project. The Ball will support the VLP, including case placement, recruitment and training of volunteers, paying litigation expenses as well as the coordination and staffing of the Self Help Desks across the state. In 2015, the Volunteer Lawyers Project helped more than 6,000 low income Nebraskans get access to a lawyer and our system of justice. Volunteers helped 2,800 persons through services at the six Help Centers located in county courthouses or through full or limited representation in civil cases. More cases involve issues affecting basic human needs - safe living arrangements, child-parent relationships, and financial support. The Barristers' Ball is Black Tie Optional.
This year's Co-chairs are Steve & Cathy Mattoon of Sidney, who add "We would like to personally invite you to support this worthwhile cause by joining us for a gala evening celebrating equal justice."

The proceeds raised by the 2017 NLF Golf Tournament will support all activities of the Volunteer Lawyer Project including: volunteer recruitment, training new and existing volunteers, placing cases with volunteer attorneys and staffing and coordinating the self help-desks.
VLP assisted 4,000 persons who called, emailed or visited the VLP office by providing helpful information and resources. VLP is often a place of last resort for these individuals who, without VLP programs, would be left to navigate a complex sort system of their own.
