The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation is a non-profit corporation who’s focus is to obtain grants, gifts and contributions to fund the work of Volunteer Lawyers Project, Nebraska Lawyers Assistance Program, SOLACE, the Rural Practice Initiative, the Leadership Academy and the LSAT Prep Scholarship Program


Q. Why was The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation created?
A. The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation was created, at the request of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation, to raise funds for the charitable, educational and research activities of the Nebraska State Bar Association. 

Q. What are the differences between The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation and the Nebraska State Bar Foundation?
A.  The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation is a non-profit corporation who’s mission is to obtain grants, gifts and contributions to fund the work of the charitable, educational and research activities of the Nebraska State Bar Association including programs like the Volunteer Lawyers Project, Nebraska Lawyers Assistance Program, SOLACE, the Rural Practice Initiative, the Leadership Academy and the LSAT Prep Scholarship Program. The Nebraska State Bar Foundation serves the citizens of Nebraska and the legal profession by funding and administering law-related programs such as the High School Mock Trial Competition, the Annual Law Day Essay Contest, the Age of Majority publication and the job shadowing program. 

Q. What is the legal status of The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation?
A.  A letter from the IRS, dated August 7, 2003, notified us that us that “we have determined that you are exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization described in section 501(c). 

Q. “How many of my bar dues dollars go to The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation?”
A.  None of your bar dues dollars are used. 

Q. “If none of my bar dues dollars go to The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation, how is it financed?”
A.  NLF receives funding from three sources: 1) Voluntary contributions from NSBA members, 2) Grants to support specific programs from local, state and national foundations and 3) Contributions from our corporate sponsors. 

Q. Who are the officers of The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation?
A. The voting members of the Nebraska State Bar Association Executive Council are the board of directors of The Nebraska Lawyers Foundation. Officers and Board of Directors
