Rural Practice Initiative Associate and Summer Clerkship Placement Program - Wayne NE, September 15, 2017
In-person interviews for our clerkship program or full-time employment will take place at Wayne State College in the Kanter Student Center on Friday, September 15, 2017 from noon to 5:00 pm, with a reception to follow. The goal is to provide 15-20 minutes for each interview. We estimate that each attorney will have the opportunity to interview at least six students in the afternoon. Attorneys and students will have an additional opportunity to meet and converse at a reception following the formal interviewing session..

2017 NSBA Annual Meeting - Equality Before the Law
The 117th Annual Meeting of the Nebraska State Bar Association will be held at the Embassy Suites-La Vista Wednesday, October 11, through Friday, October 13, 2017. Attorney Rick Kammen, Indianapolis, IN
Mr. Kammen will discuss his experience as defense counsel at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, specifically his defense of accused war criminal Abd al Rahim al Nashiri, in U.S. custody since 2002 for masterminding the attack on the US Navy Warship USS Cole in 2000. Facing the death penalty, the CIA has admitted to torturing Al Nashiri and destroying recorded interrogations. There is still no trial date set. Mr. Kammen is a prominent anti-death penalty defense counsel in state and federal courts, and is on the faculty at the National Criminal Defense College and Trial Lawyers College.
