Remote Hearings in the Nebraska Workers Compensation Court CLE Now Available OnDemand
Nebraska Workers Compensation Court Judge Tom Stine and Clerk of the Workers Compensation Court Liz Gianunzio share best practices in conducting hearings remotely in the Nebraska Workers Compensation Court including guidance on establishing the record and handling witnesses, exhibits and language interpreters remotely. NSBA Executive Council Elections for 5th and 6th Judicial Districts Seats
Interested in representing your judicial district on the NSBA’s Executive Council? Notifications and petitions to run for election were sent to all lawyers in the 5th and 6th Supreme Court Districts on April 27, 2020 via email for the upcoming Executive Council vacancies. The deadline for returning a petition will be June 1, 2020. Executive Council terms begin in October of 2020 in conjunction with the NSBA Annual Meeting and are four years. NSBA President Elect Designate Election
The NSBA Executive Council has nominated Jason Grams for President-Elect Designate.  Notifications and petitions to run against the nominee in a statewide election were sent to all lawyers in Douglas and Sarpy counties on April 27, 2020. The deadline for returning a petition to participate in the election will be June 1, 2020. This four year term begins in October in conjunction with the NSBA Annual Meeting.  The President-Elect Designate automatically succeeds to the position of President-elect, and then President. They then serve on the Executive Council for a year as Past President. For more information contact the Executive Director, Liz Neeley at lneeley@nebar.com.

2020 Judicial Evaluation Poll Reminder
The Nebraska State Bar Association’s 2020 Judicial Evaluation Poll was made available as an online survey. You should have received an email link to the survey on April 21, 2020. Please contact Sam Clinch if you did not receive the link.  The deadline to respond to the survey is May 25, 2020.

In light of recent changes in the open meetings law, the Nebraska Press Association, Nebraska Broadcasters Association and Nebraska State Bar Association are pleased to be able to provide this copy for use by citizens, elected and appointed officials, businesses and the media. VLP, Immigrant Legal Center and the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence offer FREE CLE for Volunteers
“Advocating for Victims of Crime as an Attorney” provides lawyers representing victims of crime a review of the substantive law, practice, procedure, ethical rules and practical guidance for assisting this vulnerable population in civil legal matters. This FREE CLE is for current Volunteer Lawyer’s Project attorneys and attorneys willing to accept a VLP case referral in 2020. By registering to attend this CLE, you agree to accept a VLP case referral before December 31, 2020. You will be contacted after the CLE to make arrangements for the case referral. We appreciate your support of the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project!  This seminar will be offered by webinar on May 14th. Visit the NSBA website for more information.
