NSBA Communities Replace Listservs on May 20th
On May 20, 2020, the NSBA will be upgrading from its current listserv model to online communities. On May 20th you will be able to view and access the NSBA communities under “Connect” on the NSBA’s website menu. To ease your transition, we have created a series of brief videos to show you how the communities work:

These “NSBA Communities” will improve on the current listserv model in a number of ways: customize how often you receive messages, access a searchable archive of discussions, access a document library and connect with other members directly.  Click here for more information. ***Please note that your current listserv addresses will not work after May 20th. Please whitelist your new listserv domain (listed in the attachment) to make sure you still receive messages.

CLE Scholarships Made Available by the Nebraska State Bar Foundation
Thanks to the generosity of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation, if you require financial assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic in obtaining your required CLE credits for the year, you can request a CLE scholarship for up to 2 hours of free CLE through the NSBA. To request a scholarship, please email your request to our CLE Assistant, Lisa Henrichs ( with the name of the program that you would like to register for.  All requests will be treated confidentially. The number of scholarships awarded in 2020 will be dependent on available funding. Requests will be considered in the order that they are received.

VLP Participates in Give to Lincoln - May 28, 2020
Please support the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) on May 28 by donating here and sharing this link. VLP is participating in Give To Lincoln, a Lincoln Community Foundation fundraising event that raises money by having local nonprofits compete for matching funds- whoever raises the most gets the most matching funds. Even if you can only give a small amount, it will make a big difference. Because of the amazing pro bono efforts of NSBA members like you, VLP assisted 7,500 low-income Nebraskans last year. 2020 Judicial Evaluation Poll Reminder
The Nebraska State Bar Association’s 2020 Judicial Evaluation Poll was made available as an online survey. You should have received an email link to the survey on April 21, 2020. Please contact Sam Clinch if you did not receive the link.  The deadline to respond to the survey is May 25, 2020.

NSBA Executive Council Elections for 5th and 6th Judicial Districts Seats
Interested in representing your judicial district on the NSBA’s Executive Council? Notifications and petitions to run for election were sent to all lawyers in the 5th and 6th Supreme Court Districts on April 27, 2020 via email for the upcoming Executive Council vacancies. The deadline for returning a petition will be June 1, 2020. Executive Council terms begin in October of 2020 in conjunction with the NSBA Annual Meeting and are four years. NSBA President Elect Designate Election
The NSBA Executive Council has nominated Jason Grams for President-Elect Designate.  Notifications and petitions to run against the nominee in a statewide election were sent to all lawyers in Douglas and Sarpy counties on April 27, 2020. The deadline for returning a petition to participate in the election will be June 1, 2020. This four year term begins in October in conjunction with the NSBA Annual Meeting.  The President-Elect Designate automatically succeeds to the position of President-elect, and then President. Casemaker Weekly Update - Casemaker Libra
Casemaker Libra is an online, searchable library of treatises, practice guides, coursebooks, deskbooks, Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and other secondary materials, collected from professional associations and other sources (collectively referred to as "publishers"), and linked directly to the Casemaker4 research system. In other words, as you search the primary law collections on Casemaker4, you may access secondary materials related to your search as well.
Access to Casemaker Libra material is typically by paid annual subscription but may vary by publisher. (No physical, print publications will be delivered.) 

A subscription to an "All Publications" collection includes online access to all supplements, new editions, new titles, and selected CLE course materials released by a publisher during the term of the subscription. A practice area subscription includes online access to the aforementioned materials pertaining to that practice area released by a publisher during the term of the subscription.
All materials have been enhanced with linked primary law citations for cases, statutes, acts, administrative codes, etc. Full-text searching is available across Casemaker4 databases and all publications included in your Casemaker Libra subscription.

Publishers within the Casemaker Libra system include the American Bar Association
Colorado Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association
Tower Publishing, Virginia CLE, Washington State Bar Association and more.
