Please Participate in the 2020 NSBA Economic Survey
The purpose of the Nebraska State Bar Association (NSBA) Economic Survey is to assess trends in attorney salaries and billing practices across the state. In addition to providing members with information on average salaries (by length of time in practice, area of practice, area of the state, etc.) and assessing whether your hourly rates are competitive with those charged by your peers, the survey will provide data on employee benefits, law school debt, retirement/succession planning and more. How useful the survey is, is dependent on you! We need as many lawyers to complete the survey as possible. Help us make this a valuable resource for our membership by taking the time to complete the survey. The survey will close on July 15th. Results will be available soon thereafter! Your responses will be confidential and results will only be presented in the aggregate. Click here to begin: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XBC8MGM. Please respond only once.  Thank you in advance for your participation.

Join us for our FREE Implicit Bias and Decision Making CLE with the Honorable Stefanie A. Martinez on June 19!
This seminar explores the formation of identity, how our identities influence our perspectives and experiences and how that foundation is used by our brain to process information. We will then explore how this process can unknowingly create implicit biases within us (yes, we all have them) and how those biases can impact our decision-making as lawyers. Most importantly, this seminar will discuss ways we can help ourselves to identify our own biases and strategies for confronting those biases. The seminar is free, but you must register to attend.

LSAT Prep Scholarship- Please spread the word
The Nebraska State Bar Association/Nebraska Lawyers Foundation works to expand the pipeline of diverse law school applicants. The LSAT Prep Scholarship Program provides a scholarship for a Kaplan LSAT Prep Course covers the costs of registering for the LSAT exam for recipients who are historically underrepresented in Nebraska's law schools, demonstrate economic need, and reside in Nebraska. The number of scholarships awarded annually is dependent on charitable contributions. The scholarship program reaches both traditional and non-traditional students from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds. On average, students achieve an eight point increase on their LSAT exam score. Since 2013, more than 80 scholarships have been awarded. Download the Application and Instruction Sheet. The  deadline for submitting an application is July 6, 2020.

NSBA Communities Now Live
On May 20, 2020, the NSBA upgraded from its current listserv model to online communities. You can now view and access the NSBA communities under “Connect” on the NSBA’s website menu. To ease your transition, we have created a series of brief videos to show you how the communities work:

These “NSBA Communities” will improve on the current listserv model in a number of ways: customize how often you receive messages, access a searchable archive of discussions, access a document library and connect with other members directly.  Click here for more information . ***Please note that your current listserv addresses will not work after May 20th. Please whitelist your new listserv domain (listed in the attachment) to make sure you still receive messages.
