Summary

In additional to helping Nebraska lawyers, judges and law students overcome alcohol and drug use disorders, the Nebraska Lawyers Assistance Program (NLAP) provides assistance has it relates to a variety of conditions, including mental health, stress management, gambling addiction and cognitive loss. In spite of this comprehensive mission, NLAP has never strayed from continuing to address one of the most significant issues facing the legal profession the role substance use disorders can play in the professional and personal lives of our lawyers. The latest research indicates that 1 in 5 lawyers will experience negative impacts from alcohol use during their legal career. The good news is that substance use disorders are treatable and countless lawyers, judges and law students have successfully faced this challenge with success.
