Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be your own boss? Are you considering hanging your own shingle but don’t know where to begin? Is the fear of winding down a practice and lack of an exit strategy holding you back from starting your own firm?

Join the NSBA and Katie Martens, lawyer and author of the How to Form a Professional Legal LLC in Nebraska practice manual, for a 2-hour program outlining the processes and considerations involved in starting and maintaining a solo law practice.

This program will examine a potential client’s perspective on solo practice, client intake, engagement agreements, business formation, practice management, and more. The presentation will also address steps for closing a law practice and provide resources to be used during the entire life cycle of your law firm.

Katie M. Martens, Houghton Bradford Whitted PC, LLO
Katie has been practicing law since 2010 and had practiced as a solo for almost 14 years before joining Houghton Bradford Whitted PC, LLO in November 2023. She began teaching the Business of Law course at Creighton Law School around 2018, which allowed her to funnel all of her hard-earned experiences into lessons for others.
